Companies Must Start Using New I-9 Form By October 31, 2023

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced today that the new I-9 form has been completed. The new version has been streamlined and shortened and employers can begin using the new form as soon as August 1, 2023. However, employers must be using the new form by October 31, 2023 or be subject to penalties if they use the older form after that date. Additional information about the new form can be found here: https://public-inspection.federalregister.gov/2023-15667.pdf. We will send out a copy of the new I-9 form as soon as it is made publicly available (presumably on August 1, 2023). However, start making your managers aware that after August 1, 2023 they should be using the new form and be ready to update your new hire packet after August 1, 2023.
